RETIRED 2000. Picnic in the Country is a breezy, summer-sweet day dress. Circa 1946. The sleeveless dress features a fitted bodice in a red and white gingham check with a pleated panel, boat collar and white silk lining. The dress extends into an attached box pleat skirt of white waffle cotton blend fabric and a 1/4″ checked trim at the hem. The matching bolero jacket is fully lined, and features red and white gingham check piping, and a band and tie. Accessories include a matching “band” style hat, shoes, hose, a bracelet, pin, earrings and hat accented with “cherry” bead jewelry. Designer: Lynne Day.
