RETIRED 2001. Unique “floating sleeves” make a stylish cocktail dress totally Avant Garde, circa 1956. The carnation pink sleeveless dress features a fitted bodice, decorated with four black buttons. Deeply darted, the bodice tapers sharply to the waist, where the skirt blossoms from beneath. The skirt’s fullness is supported by petticoats of shocking pink tulle. Matching armbands that “float” above the elbows serve as sleeves, giving the entire ensemble a futuristic look, a popular theme in the ’50s. Includes cap-style hat with a black bow trim; black bead earrings and necklace; black lace gloves; and black heels. Designer: Jose Ferrand
